Phased recovery to normalcy in Ireland
There are many students who have been waiting for news on the reopening of schools and colleges in Ireland, after the unprecedented shutdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Do check in with study abroad consultants in Kochi, like MWT Education Consultancy from time to time, to be advised on the current situation.
Ireland has prioritized the reopening of schools and colleges, and the return to workplaces, starting August 31st. The return of live entertainment is likely to be slower as Government remains cautious, and will wait to see how the situation unfolds.
Last week, a Cabinet sub-committee meeting heard a number of briefings from public health chiefs and the HSE. Concerns were raised and discussed, about the recent rise in Covid-19 cases and hospital admissions. It was estimated that over 100 people are likely to be in ICU in the coming weeks.
Experts feel that the current wave of infections will peak around mid-to-late September, and HSE chief executive Paul Reid warned against assuming that hospitals could tolerate “hundreds and hundreds” more cases.
This concern about the current wave of cases will lead to a cautious approach to the next phase of reopening. It is expected that the schedule for the reopening of live entertainment, for instance, will follow the example of previous plans. There will be a gradual approach rolled out in stages throughout the autumn.
“Anything we’ve reopened, we’ve kept open,” Taoiseach Micheál Martin told reporters, adding, “We’ve managed to keep Delta largely under control. . . The phased approach has worked so far.”
Students planning to return to schools and colleges in Ireland are advised to continue to be cautious and to follow all pandemic advisories.
