Expanded opportunities in healthcare: direct care occupations

Labour Agreement to sponsor overseas workers for the Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa
Are you dreaming of working in the Australian healthcare sector? MWT Australia is now collaborating with healthcare facilities to establish Labour Agreements for recruiting overseas carers on a Subclass 482 visa under the new Labour Agreement scheme. The Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa could offer flexible and easy pathways for you to achieve your dream!
Employers in the healthcare industry now have the opportunity to utilize the Aged Care Industry in direct care occupations, including:
Nursing Support Worker:
An integral part of the healthcare team, the Nursing Support Worker provides essential assistance to nurses, ensuring patient comfort, hygiene, and overall support.
-
Personal Care Assistant:
As a compassionate caregiver, the Personal Care Assistant is dedicated to assisting individuals with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their overall well-being.
-
Aged or Disabled Carer:
The Aged or Disabled Carer is a compassionate caregiver who provides essential support to elderly or disabled individuals, promoting independence and ensuring a comfortable living environment.
These direct care occupations play a vital role in delivering quality healthcare services and improving the lives of those in need. Employers can now tap into this talent pool to enhance their healthcare teams and provide exceptional care.
About the Temporary Skill Shortage (Subclass 482) visa
This visa allows you to live and work full-time in Australia for a sponsoring employer in a nominated position. If you have dependent family members, you can include them in your application as well.
Who is eligible for the TSS Visa?
The TSS visa has two streams: the short-term stream and the medium-term stream. If your occupation is listed on the Short-Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL), you can apply for a visa of up to two years, which can be renewed once for an additional two years. For occupations listed on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), you can apply for a visa of up to four years, with the possibility of permanent residency after three years.
Most healthcare occupations come under the MLTSSL list.
Qualifying for the TSS Visa
To qualify for the TSS visa, your nominated occupation must appear on the Combined List of Eligible Skilled Occupations. The Department of Home Affairs uses the Australian New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) to determine whether the nominated occupation accurately reflects the duties of the position. Your employment and education history must align with the ANZSCO description.
Additionally, you must have the skills required to fulfill the nominated role. While the required skills vary depending on the occupation, all TSS visa applicants must have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. Home Affairs case officers assess your qualifications and work references in relation to the position description provided by your employer.
If you are not from an exempt country (UK, USA, Canada, NZ, or Ireland), you will also need to meet the English language requirements at the time of application.
Other important information
Meeting health and character criteria is essential for the TSS visa. You will need to provide police clearance certificates for every country in which you have lived for 12 months or more since turning 16 years old within the last ten years.
Application process for the TSS Visa
The application process for the TSS visa involves three steps:
- Standard business sponsorship: A business must become an approved Standard Business Sponsor to employ a TSS visa holder.
- Nomination: After obtaining the Standard Business Sponsorship agreement, your employer must nominate a position within their business that needs to be filled by an overseas citizen.
- Visa application: The final step is submitting the visa application itself. You must demonstrate that you meet the skill level required for your occupation, as well as the health and character requirements.
The TSS Visa Subclass 482 opens up opportunities for skilled individuals to work in Australia temporarily. By following the application process and meeting the necessary criteria, you can embark on an exciting journey in the land Down Under!
