Course Overview
Upon successfully completing the certificate program at IHM, students will advance to the Master of Science in Nutritional Science at Arizona State University (ASU). This 12-month program, consisting of 5 courses (30 credit hours), offers an in-depth exploration of advanced nutritional science topics, including clinical nutrition, research methodologies, and disease prevention. ASU’s curriculum is tailored to equip students with the skills necessary to address nutrition-related health challenges across diverse populations and healthcare settings.
Courses include Research Methods, Advanced Nutritional Interventions, and electives that allow students to specialize in areas such as Complementary Nutrition or Nutrition in Chronic Disease Management. Graduates will be prepared for careers in clinical nutrition, research, public health, or further advanced studies in healthcare and nutrition.

ASU Master’s Degree: Master of Science in Nutritional Science
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree (nutrition or science is recommended) from a recognised university.
- Students who are pursuing the Master of Science in nutritional science need to complete the following prerequisites: anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, general chemistry with lab, general nutrition for majors, organic chemistry with lab, and statistics.
- Competitive applicants typically have a “B” (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) grade point average in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, your application may still be considered by the department.
- English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent).

- Upon completing the Certificate in Nutritional Science at IHM, students are eligible to transition to the Master of Science in Nutritional Science at ASU.
