Things You Should Keep In Mind Before, During, and After Your NCLEX Exam Day

Well done! You've completed your nursing education and now to become a registered nurse (RN), you must next pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Finally, the moment has arrived for you to take the NCLEX! Everyone wants to have the greatest test-taking experience possible, but it may be difficult to concentrate on test day if you have been studying for the exam for years. To ensure that you have the most wonderful possible NCLEX experience, in this blog, we have created a checklist of things you should do before, during, and after the big test!

Prior to the Test

Prepare Yourself Mentally and Physically: It's critical to make good decisions prior to any significant examination in order to prepare yourself both mentally and physically. Make sure you have enough time in the morning to have a nutritious, well-balanced meal and give priority to having a decent night's sleep the night before your NCLEX exam. Giving yourself enough time to study is another way to mentally prepare for the test; schedule a few last study sessions to prevent cramming just before the test.

Revisit the NCLEX Rules

Although it's best to become acquainted with the NCLEX Candidate Rules prior to the test day, it's a good idea to revisit them the morning of the exam to get a refresher. These regulations are taken extremely seriously by the NCSBN and your testing location!

Verify Your belongings

Make sure you have everything you need to take the NCLEX before you travel to your testing location. An appropriate ID is the most essential item you should bring to the test because you won't be able to take it without it!

Arrive Early

According to the NCSBN, you should go to your testing location at least half an hour before the start of your exam. Make sure you know how to get to the location before you get in your car and give yourself plenty of time to get there in case there are any unforeseen circumstances, such as traffic or poor weather. Remember to fill up your petrol tank the day before as well!

Store Your Personal Items

You are not permitted to bring any electronic devices or other personal belongings, such as apparel or accessories, inside the examination room. When you check in, the testing centre will take your electronic devices, which you won't be able to use until you depart the facility after finishing the NCLEX. All of your other personal belongings will have a designated storage area, which you may use if necessary, during test breaks.

During the test

Prepare for the Test

The NCLEX is a long test, with at least 75 questions! Fortunately, you have up to six hours to finish the RN test and up to five hours to finish the PN exam. Don't be hasty as you go through the questions; instead, take your time and thoroughly consider each one.

Take Breaks When Needed

During the NCLEX, you have the opportunity to take two optional breaks: one after around two hours of testing and another after roughly three and a half hours. If you feel that you need these pauses, don't be afraid to take them! To help you ace the remainder of the test, they offer an excellent opportunity to stretch and concentrate your mind.

Make Use of Your Resources

An on-screen calculator to assist you in answering test questions and an erasable marker board to take notes throughout the test are offered. Take maximum advantage of these materials!

After the test

Celebrate for a moment after the exam—you succeeded!

One of the most difficult tests a student must take in their nursing career is the NCLEX, which you passed. It's critical to acknowledge the importance of this accomplishment and to give yourself credit for all of your hard work. Celebrate your achievement and give yourself a pat on the back!

Learn about the processing of your results.

Check out this information from the NCSBN on how your exam results will be handled and communicated to you once you've completed the NCLEX.

Await 48 hours for prompt outcomes.

About 48 hours after finishing the test, certain applicants will be able to pay a fee to view their “unofficial” NCLEX results. You can find out more about the Quick Results Service here if you're eager to find out your score—who wouldn't be? Are you trying to find out more about the NCLEX Exam?
