AHPRA – Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

Regulating and Validating Competencies of Australia’s Health Practitioners.

The demand for nurses in Australia keeps growing steadily, while the supply is falling short!

Nursing is the largest of all the healthcare professions in Australia, and the country sorely needs more nurses to manage the projected demand for healthcare.

Health Workforce Australia has estimated that Australia would be seeing a gap of approximately 85,000 nurses by 2025, and these numbers are only increasing.

As an overseas qualified nurse, it’s a great time to take your nursing career overseas and work as a Registered Nurse in Australia!

AHPRA Registration is a mandate for a
Nursing Career in Australia.

To become a Nursing Practitioner in Australia, you need to be registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). AHPRA collaborates with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) to regulate and register Australian nurses, midwives, and nursing and midwifery students.

AHPRA thoroughly considers all registration applications and compares each criterion to the registration requirements established by the Board. The applicant receives a Decision Letter if all of the requirements have been met.

About AHPRA

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is the national body in charge of implementing Australia's National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme). The national registration of practitioners, which is controlled by AHPRA, includes all health practitioners who are registered to practise.

Who is this for?

AHPRA registration is for professionals in healthcare streams such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiology and so on who have finished or will complete an approved programme of study and anticipate joining the Australian health practitioner workforce.
